San Felipe Castle Tour
Built in the 17th century when marauding pirates were still a major problem for the area. visiting the Castillo de San Felipe is a great way to spend a few hours. Explore damp inner halls and chambers where brave individuals once kept watch in an effort to keep area residents safe. this historical monument can be reached by land and water and lies at the place where Lake Izabal becomes the Rio Dulce. Manicured gardens with plenty of large shade rees surround the ancient fort and are a treat to walk through.
Reach this beautiful ecosystem by cab or minivan (new with AC) and visit San Felipe Fortress where the Spaniards defended their gold depot from pirates and buccaneers in the late 1700s. This is a four and half hours tour.
